DYB is comprised of at least two youth from each parish and Catholic high school from across the diocese who are appointed by their youth or campus ministers. In addition, the Youth and Young Adult Ministry staff will add "at-large" members. These members are teens who may not have been appointed by a specific parish or school but are chosen by the Youth Ministry staff to serve as an additional representative on the Diocesan Youth Board.
The Purpose of DYB:
1. Further develop the gifts and leadership skills of youth.
2. Improve communication between the schools and parishes of the Diocese of Baton Rouge and the Youth and Young Adult Ministry of the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis.
3. Assist and lead ministry efforts with and to the (young) Church of the diocese.
4. Foster in youth a life-giving relationship with Jesus Christ and the greater church community.
DYB provides different services to the Catholic youth ministry community. Emphasis will be placed on tasks which further reach out to Catholic youth, encourage faith development among young people and serve the civic community, which includes involvement in annual events such as World Youth Day and the Diocesan Youth Conference.
Our 2017-2018 DYB year will begin with the DYB Retreat on July 28-30, 2017.
