DIOCESAN YOUTH RETREAT TEAM (DYRT)

Picture
DYRT is a Catholic retreat team sponsored by the Youth & Young Adult Ministry in the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis. The team consists of college-aged students who plan and implement junior high (6th-8th) and high school (9th-12th) day and weekend retreats for the Diocese of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas.  With the assistance of the diocesan staff, the DYRT members receive ongoing faith and leadership formation.

DYRT retreats range in length from six hours to two-day retreats.  Using a variety of themes, team members conduct retreats for hundreds of youth.  These retreats, typically for youth in 6th-12th grade, are high energy experiences using large group presentations, small group discussion, music, drama and personal faith sharing.

Our hope for all the young people we work with is that they will embrace the challenge from Pope Benedict XVI to “build your life on Christ, to accept the Word with joy, and put its teachings into practice” (Message of Holy Father to the Youth of the World on the Occasion of the 21st World Youth Day).
